Clearly, I am a hobbyist at heart.

art does not need to be a profession it can simply be a heartfelt exploration of self.

professional or amateur, the joy of creation is a reminder to explore a different side of you,  mix in some colors, and feel the inspirational flow.

Cali Spring

These paintings, influenced by the California sunshine, vividly capture the iconic poppy as a flame flower or cup of gold, dancing in vibrant shades of orange. The spring season brings these flowers into bloom and resonates with the warmth of April 6th afternoon - the California poppy day. Simple yet profound, it fosters a deep connection to the essence and spirit of the Californian landscape.

Awakening

Imbued with intuitive symbolism, these paintings showcase the beauty and elegance of the Calla Lily, renowned for its connotations of purity and chastity.  This piece, while capturing the radiant beauty of the flower, also subtly hints at its symbolic meaning – a gentle whisper of new beginnings, of hope, and a circle of life.

Sunny days

In these paintings, vibrant sunflowers, symbolize healing, freshness, and harmony. Each sunflower turns its head towards the sun, embodying positivity and the tenacity of life. The contrast between the bright flowers and the soothing green backdrop creates a visual narrative that's both uplifting and tranquil. The artwork not only captures the visual appeal of these sunflowers but also echoes their symbolic resonance - a powerful emblem of life's resilience, the pursuit of light, and an affirmation of all that is positive and wholesome in our existence.

Indian summer

Using fiery hues of red against a calming blue backdrop, this painting showcases the enigmatic beauty of the opium poppy. Placing the two elements of beauty against functionality of potential in traditional remedies in indigenous cultures, underscores the opium poppy's unique place in nature and human history, making the painting not just visually captivating, but also rich in symbolic resonance.

Opium poppy

This painting is an enduring fascination, respect, and cautious respect for this enchanting yet narcotic plant. Embedded within its fiery petals is a symbol associated with Morpheus, the Greek god of sleep and dreams, and what those dreams might represent.

Far away

The meaning of this painting shifts with time for me, making it timeless: an unfinished conversation between my past and the person I am still becoming. Many years ago, it was about wanting my family to really see me - now it feels more like learning to see myself. I wonder what further understanding and meaning it will reveal years from now.

Blackie's spirit

The horse's mane flows freely in the wind, its hooves barely touching the ground, suggesting a sense of freedom and joy. It's as if with each stride, the horse is not simply running, but dancing to the rhythm of the landscape. The painting is a connection to Blackie's spirit, to a favorite running spot, and to the timeless harmony that exists between nature and those who respect it.

Winning the adult category of the Library Card Design contest was a joyful reminder that creativity can bring people together. The summer of 2025, our local library invited our community to step away from screens and reconnect through hands-on art, And imagination. A library card is more than access to books, it’s a small piece of local culture you carry with you.

If your current card feels ordinary, click the link to find your local library and swap your old one in person for something that sparks curiosity, pride, and connection.
